Online Gambling in Brazil

Laws in Brazil prohibit all gambling activities. But legal experts are debating on whether or not these laws apply to online gambling.

The Brazilian government does not grant gambling licenses so there are currently no gambling websites based in Brazil.

However, Brazilians still gamble online by using foreign websites, some of which even have Portuguese translations.

Recently, the Brazilian government introduced a legislation that bans payments made on online gambling sites, similar to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of the United States.

It remains to be seen whether this legislation can deter Brazilians from gambling online.
