Online gambling in Argentina went on to become a huge business and it grew unchecked for the next two years. Then, in October of 2008, the government banned all untaxed and unregulated sites.

This meant that players can use Argentine online gambling websites only. Argentine Internet Service Providers block foreign gambling sites because they can get in trouble if they let local residents use them. However, the players themselves are left untouched.

As of March 2009, the Argentine government is considering reversing the ban.
